Our Program

First Start Rosedale provides developmentally age-appropriate programs that focus on the process of
learning; fosters academic enrichment in core instructional areas and invests in outstanding faculty and
staff.  We strive to strengthen each child’s own cultural identity, while instilling a respect for others.  We
consistently refine and supplement our programs to fit the needs of our students, and to empower them
as future leaders.  Some of the core areas explored are Science, Technology, Language Arts,
Mathematics, Social Studies, physical education and Fine Arts.
  •        The FSLC program is structured in a way that emphasizes a hands-on approach to
            academic subjects.
  •        Caring teachers provide a nurturing environment to help children enjoy successful
            experiences.
  •        Parents are asked to work with and fully support the teacher towards their child's social,
            emotional and academic needs.
  •        Field trips, guests in the classroom and many hands-on experiences extend the curriculum.
  •        Supervised play takes place in a safe, fenced playground with a designated area for
            pre-school students.

Infant Program
The infant program caters to an environment that is setup to foster infants physical, sensory, social,
emotional and intellectual development.  Caregivers can be found singing, talking and reading to or
cuddling, playing or rocking with the babies.  Their interaction is second to none in providing the positive
sense of trust and security your baby needs.  The program is developmental based and presented in a
warm, nurturing environment.

Toddler Program
This program is designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, and a love of learning. Learning areas
include dramatic play, creative arts, language development and communicating skills.

Two Year Old Program
The Twos program is used to develop the child's language, gross motor and small motor skills.
Self-discipline, cooperation and creative expression are fostered through play activities.  Exploration of
manipulative toys, books, indoor and outdoor play equipment and materials help to develop the child's
curiousity, creativity and independence.  Art and music experiences with a variety of materials are an
integral part of the program.

Three Year Old Program
The creative Preschool Program is the core of the three year old curriculum.  Listening to stories,
retelling events, dramatic play with puppets, music and movement experience help the child develop
concepts and language skills necessary for future learning.  A variety of play and art materials are
provided for the child's exploration.  Stringing beads, building blocks, painting, drawing, cutting and
constructing with different materials foster the development of the child's small motor and program
solving skills, and also enhance his sense of creativity and self-expression.

Four and Five Year Old Program
The four and five year old child is ready for the exploration of concepts in the areas of reading and math
readiness, science and social studies, as well as the continued growth of language and physical
development skills.  Utilizing the creative Pre-Kindergarten Program, the child is presented with a
thematic, hands-on approach to learning new skills and developing new awareness and abilities.
Beginning phonics instruction is initiated when the child is ready for the skill.  The child's curiousity,
independence and self-confidence are fostered through the use of center play activities.  Manipulative
toys, art, music experiences and field trips enhance the child's understanding and enjoyment of
presented concepts.

Before and After School Program
First Start Childcare and Learning Center offers a School Age Program during the before and after school
hours.  Our program offers a hi-tech program where children can enjoy creative arts, computers,
science, music social interaction with their peers.
